Physical Treatment

Physical Treatment

Physical treatment is a treatment process that includes a series of physical processes that clean the water in wastewater or drinking water treatment plants. These processes aim to physically remove particles, suspended solids and other contaminants from the water.

Grill

Screening systems used in wastewater treatment plants are important equipment for the physical separation of solids from wastewater at the influent stage. These systems capture and separate large particles that need to be removed from the wastewater. Screening systems usually consist of large frames equipped with parallel bars or plates.

Preliminary Precipitation

Pre-settling, which is the first step of the wastewater treatment process, is a physical treatment method that separates solids from wastewater. At this stage, large particles in the wastewater precipitate in the settling tanks under the influence of gravity and light materials such as oils and foams that rise to the water surface are also separated. In this way, the wastewater passes to the subsequent treatment stages in a cleaner way.

Equalisation Pool

Equalisation basins in the treatment plant regulate the mixture of organic and inorganic substances in the wastewater and ensure a more efficient and stable treatment process. These ponds provide a more suitable wastewater to the biological treatment units by balancing the variable loadings in the wastewater. In addition, equalisation basins contribute to more efficient operation of the treatment plant, improving the quality of treated water at the outlet.

DAF (Dissolved Air Flotation)

DAF is a treatment process that allows small particles in wastewater to be removed from the water. In this method, pressurised air is introduced into the wastewater, which causes the small particles to be covered with air bubbles. The bubbles combine with the solids in the wastewater and rise to the water surface, where they can be easily separated. The DAF system is an effective solution, especially in the treatment of wastewater requiring difficult treatment such as oil, fatty acids, coloured substances.
